Phil Ivey

Phil, Phil and Phil. There are so many Phils in the poker that we don’t even know where to begin, but we can tell you a little about the Tiger Woods of poker. Meet Phil Ivey, a poker professional who also belongs to one of the most successful players in the world.

Phil Ivey was born in 1976 and grew up in the New Jersey suburbs. As a teenager, he found ways to make money unknown to most people by that time. As he began working as a telemarketing salesman, he took theory to practice and began exploring poker – and beat his comrades. Back then, he was known as “No Home Jerome”.

If you sit down at a table with Phil Ivey, you are most likely going to notice his aggressive style. Most people will agree that it is very difficult to read Phil’s face. He looks almost a bit sad even in jackpot situations and if you try to get to him, you may have to scream sometimes, as he sticks firmly to his iPod. Besides the Apple wear, he is a Los Angeles NBA fan, so don’t be surprised if you see a team jersey on his body.

Full Tilt Poker Bonus CodeThere’s no exact number on how much money Ivey’s made so far at major tournaments, but it exceeds a stunning $7 million in late 2005. His winnings include a total of five World Series of Poker bracelets, most notably one in late June 2005, where he scored a total of $635,603. Besides WSOP, Phil has notable performances at World Poker Tour, although he has not yet had any winnings there.

Besides being at the tables, Phil promotes his favorite poker room Full Tilt Poker. Luckily, he sometimes plays in low stake tournaments as well, to give everyone an honest chance to beat the professional.

Nowadays, Ivey prefers regular cash games with very high stakes. He is without a doubt a fierce tournament player, but his thirst is usually quenched outside of WSOP and WPT. Despite this, you are often likely to find him at the largest tournaments. After all, that’s where you can score a dollar or so.
